It seems every year on So You Think You Can Dance I am introduced to a new artist or song that I really love. This year is no exception! Last night I was watching the auditions from Memphis, I think, and at least two of the contestants danced to this song. I used my iPhone to determine what the song was and who sung it. I'm familiar with both Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson but had not heard the song. It's off of a Christmas CD. So it's not exactly new. This morning I had to purchase it on iTunes and have listened to it several times. I'm not sure why I love it. Check it out and see what you think.
UPDATE: Okay. My niece reminded me that she performed it at our family Christmas party. I loved it then and meant to look it up. But my short term memory prevented that. Bri, thanks for reminding me where I first heard it.

My New BFF, L

Yesterday I got to work I went to remove my phone from my shorts pocket and set it on my desk. (That's the routine.) Ughhh! I had left it at home. I hate it when that happens. I'm afraid that I might miss a call or text. I updated my Facebook status to reflect my current panic. I got several comments on it and one of them was from a friend who asked if she should text me so that I would have a missed message. I replied jokingly and said "Would you? That would be so nice. :)" Sure enough when I rushed home to get my phone, there was her text. That made me happy. Especially since it was the only thing that I missed. But the funniest part came later that evening when I started getting text messages from her 10 year old daughter. I had to share our conversations.
L: Hey B it's L are you going to baby sit us I July and jo to that would be awsome if you did
Me: Hi L. This is actually B's uncle, Brian. :)
L: Oh sorry brian kind looks like her name. Sorry
Me: Yep. No problem.

Me: Ok good to know! :)

Oh Canada!

Every once in a while I get interesting advertisements in Facebook. And by interesting I mean something other than the "Love After 40" or "Asian Bride" ads.
The latest advertisement is trying to recruit me to get dual citizenship for Canada and the US. I lived there for two years and no offense Canada but I like it where I am. Thanks! But by change if you are interested in a dual citizenship, I saved the link for you: Free Canada Immigration Eligibility Assessment.

FHE Goes Bridal
For FHE this week the group went up Provo Canyon. The plan was just to enjoy being outside in the great weather. We were going to walk from Nunn's Park up to the base of Bridal Falls and back down. But once we got to the falls, we felt the need to hike. We weren't exactly prepared for that one. As you can see some of the girls were in skirts! It was fun anyways! We took a few photos, including an "engagement" photo for Jaree and me to help rumors in the ward. :) [And even though it looks like the outfits were coordinated, they were not!]
After the hike we came back to my house and had ice cream and cookies. (Left over from the b-day festivities.) And Jaree and Anna whipped up some Fillipino cuisine and spaghetti. (Someone was hungry, Jaree!)
Happy Birthday to Me
I'm getting old or maybe I already am. I guess it's all up to your perspective. So this year I turned 41 last weekend. Earlier in the week I got a call from my friend, Anna. She informed me that she was going to throw a birthday party for me but there was a catch -- it had to be at my house. :) I told her that would be great. I'm not sure that I have had someone other than a family member ever offer to throw me a birthday party. It was incredibly nice of her. She did a ton of work as you can see. She also got a few other friend to help bring party food. It was a huge success. Thanks Anna! and everyone who helped out or attended.
We had plenty of deserts and a veggie tray to counter balance all the sweets. We played Nertz and Rock Band. Then we watched a movie, Taken.

A Movie This Weekend?

Are you going to see a movie this weekend? Are you a big drinker like me? Then you might want to check out RunPee.com. This website lets you know about the most opportune times to make a run for the bathroom without missing too much of the movie. Gee this would have come in handy when I saw Star Trek two weeks ago. :)

Only in Utah

Today at lunch I had to do a little double-take. Count the number of people stickers on the windows. I wondered if they would all fit in the van. Surprisingly they all did even with an extra person! It gave me a good little giggle though. :)

I'm Looking But Don't Look at Me

Okay I'm 41 and single. I've been on plenty of singles/dating websites. Since I just had a birthday, one of these aforementioned websites (ldspromise.com) sent out an email notifying me that I can access their website freely for 7 days. I had forgotten that I even had an account with them but I thought, "what the heck?" and logged in. I had also forgotten that on this site the members can mark their profiles so that their photos are not displayed to their "matches" at all or that they are displayed only at some future time that they decide. This is a pet peeve of mine. Why on earth would anyone mark their photo to only be displayed after a certain amount of time?! Eventually I will have to see this person if there is going to be a relationship. Normally I prefer to go out with women without bags on their heads! And honestly showing a photo later is not going to increase their chances with me or anyone else. In fact, I immediately have just deleted these matches in the past.
I mean I always put my photo our there on my profile. Sure I choose one in which I think I look better than my average photos. But I do not consider myself some hot stud. It's just me. I just think it's fair that they know who they are talking to. And fortunately everyone finds different things attractive in different people. Or at least I'm still banking on that one.
So, does this make me vain? Am I missing something? I just don't get it.

Mandatory Corporate Training Event

Last Friday I participated in our company's mandatory corporate training event. The email appointment contained the following details:
Please bring your golf clubs, if you have them and wear clothing that would be appropriate if you were going golfing, instead of having corporate training.
It was a great day for some golfing and a sun burn. Here are a few photos from our "training." I think everyone had a good time.

A Funny Conversation

Last Saturday I received a call from my Dad while he was at Costco. This is how the conversation basically went:
Dad: Brian, it's your Dad. Do you think Mom would like an iPod for her birthday?
Me: No. If she does, I have one that I can give her.
Dad: How about a GPS?
Me: Dad you guys don't really go anywhere. Why are you asking me what she wants?
Dad: Well, you talk to her.
Me: You talk to her more.
Dad: Not really.
Me: Well, maybe that should be you're gift than.
Dad: How about a big TV? LCD or plasma? Samsung's a good one, right?
Me: Gee Dad, I don't know I haven't really been researching it.
Dad: I should have just brought you with me to Costco.
Me: Dad I'm in Salt Lake City.
Dad: Are you going to a concert or something?
Me: No. I'm going to a friend's house.
Dad: Oh.
When I showed up the next day to help celebrate my mom's birthday, sure enough there was the 46" Samsung TV. Glad I could help. :)
