Credit Card Commerical - Pet Peeve

Last night I was at the gym and they have these new LCD TV hooked up to the cardio machines. I was listening to my iPod but watching the TV. It helps distract me from what I'm really there to do. Anyway, a commercial came on and it reminded me of a pet peeve that I have with credit card commercials. This commercial reinforced that annoyance because they show the same scene over and over. Notice in the photo above how the card is right-side up? And are they running it through a magnetic card reader? And isn't the magnetic strip always on the top of the back of the card?! So really all the people swiping their cards like this are idiots or the credit card companies are idiots for not thinking that we wouldn't get the point of the commercial if the card were upside down. Anyone else bothered by this? :)

YES! I hate that they do this. It's definitely one of my pet peeves as well. Thanks for calling them out on it :)

Linds, you can count on me point out when credit card companies are stupid. :)

I don't think I've ever noticed or thought about it that way. And you know what? I've worked with Visa and MasterCard and helped create advertising collateral... and they did the same thing. Guilty.

Maybe this comes from my years of working retail. You'll quickly learn which way the card works. Juli maybe you need to charge more. :)

I really don't watch comercials any more thanks to my DVR... oh, the greatest invention in the past 5 years!

Kim, I'm with you on the DVR thing. I was at the gym though and can't control the commercials. Plus this has been bugging me for years, long before the advent of DVRs.

Just one more reason to NOT go the gym! Man, I can find every excuse, can't I.

and I find it too funny that your google ads have you advertising for credit card readers! LOL!

I am going to click on the ads just to help you earn money!

Good job Kim! It might take me 10 years to earn $10 off of those ads but it will be worth it! :)
